From the 1960s, Albert Productions created a house of hits in Australia that changed the sound of Australian popular music. Under the guidance of Ted Albert and songwriters/producers Harry Vanda and George Young, Alberts became a family of artists including Billy Thorpe, The Easybeats, Stevie Wright, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Angels and TMG, who conquered the charts and achieved international acclaim. The Alberts guitar sound was like a throbbing V8 motor, the sound of working class good times. Anti-authority, hard-living suburban young Australia at its most confident and exciting.
THE EASYBEATS - Regarded by many as the greatest Australian pop band of the 1960s, The Easybeats were the first Australian rock and roll act to score an international pop hit with the single 'Friday on My Mind'.?Guitarists George Young and Harry Vanda would have long careers as the house producers and songwriters at Alberts Productions, whilst singer Stevie Wright would have a successful solo career of his own.
AC/DC - If The Easybeats were considered the greatest Australian band of the 1960s, then AC/DC should be considered the greatest Australian rock band of all time. Over a forty year career AC/DC's hard rock sound has provided the band record sales of over 200M worldwide whilst their seminal album Back In Black is the fifth highest selling album by any artist.
THE ANGELS - Signed to Alberts Productions in 1975 on the recommendation of AC/DC's Bon Scott and Malcolm Young, the Angels released the classic 'Am Ever Going To See Your Face Again' the following year. Whilst not a hit on launch, the track has taken on a life of its own and is not considered an Aussie anthem.
ROSE TATTOO - Taking on the heavy guitar sound for which Alberts Productions had become synonymous and running?with it, Rose Tattoo blended a hard, bluesy sound with the gravel throated vocals of lead singer Angry Anderson. Songs like 'Bad Boy for Love' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw' have made The Tatts one of the most revered acts in Australian rock and roll.
