In Catch Me If You Can, Steven Spielberg tackles the true life story of Frank Abagnale Jr, a young man who in the 1960's was one of the FBI's most wanted men after forging millions of dollars of cheques. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the young Frank Abagnale Jr. Frank Jr's parents are having problems, not only with Frank Snr's business, but also general relationship problems. When they get a divorce Frank Jr takes off and heads to New York.
Struggling for cash, Frank Jr soon discovers that if you are an airline pilot everyone loves you and will do anything for you, including cashing your cheques. This leads Frank Jr to impersonating Pan-Am pilots, at first he begins writing dodgy personal cheques, then moving onto to forging Pan-Am pay cheques. Soon the FBI, led by Carl Hanratty (played by Tom Hanks) are on Frank Jr's tail, following him from city to city in the aftermath of his forged cheque spending spree, always just too late to catch him.
Constantly changing names, and occupations, Frank Jr proves to be a hard man for Hanratty to catch, but he's not going to give up till he gets his man.
